Glen Ellyn has long been a popular destination for Chicago-area residents. There are many reasons that people love Glen Ellyn, and this blog post will highlight three of the more commonly mentioned ones.
1. Glen Ellyn is a beautiful suburb with plenty to do
There is a seemingly endless list of things to do in Glen Ellyn, from enjoying a walk (or Wine tasting!) at Lake Ellyn to attending one of the summer concerts or events in town. Glen Ellyn has a vibrant and growing downtown area, which includes coffee shops, boutiques, yoga studios, and more. And of course, no mention of Glen Ellyn would be complete without mentioning the local restaurants and bars. Whether you're looking for a quick bite or a high-end dinner, you'll be sure to find something to your taste. Local gems like Santa Fe, Toda Madre, Maize and Mash, Main Street Pub, or Shannons are all great options for a good time. There has been a huge influx of young families moving from Chicago for more space, and the ones I've met have found downtown Glen Ellyn to be a great proxy for their old Chicago neighborhoods.
2. It's a great location with easy access to Chicago
One of the biggest benefits of living here is that Glen Ellyn is a train-based community, so there is easy access to Chicago via the Metra. Not only is Glen Ellyn a great place to live but it's also situated in close proximity to a number of different Chicago suburbs, which makes it easy to get around. Local towns like Wheaton, Lombard, Downers Grove, etc all offer great attractions as well and are a quick drive from Glen Ellyn.
3. The schools are excellent
Glen Ellyn is one of the best places to live for families with school-age children. The village is home to two highly rated high schools, Glenbard West and Glenbard South, as well as a number of excellent elementary and middle schools. In addition, Glen Ellyn is served by a wonderful Catholic school, St. Petronille. Families looking for a top-notch education for their children will find that Glen Ellyn has a lot to offer.
If you’re looking for a great place to live, Glen Ellyn should definitely be at the top of your list. With plenty of events and activities to keep you busy, easy access to Chicago, and some of the best schools in the country, there’s something for everyone here. My ancestors came to Glen Ellyn in the 1840s, and we're still here! So what are you waiting for? Give us a call today and let us show you around this amazing community.
